This Privacy Policy explains how Meris Network ("Meris Network", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information about you when you visit our website (the "Site"), join our waitlist, or otherwise interact with us (together, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email address. If you enter your email on the Site (for example on the computer in the story, to join the waitlist or request early access), we collect it.
- Messages. If you contact us, we keep your message and the details you choose to include.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider and content delivery network process your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system and the pages you request, in order to deliver the Site and keep it secure.
- Local storage. The Site remembers on your own device whether you have already joined the waitlist (see section 5).
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
If you contribute compute
When the Meris Network contributor software becomes available, running it will involve processing information about your device (such as GPU model, available memory, uptime and the work completed) and the payout details you provide. We will describe that processing in an updated version of this policy before the software is offered.
2. How we use your information
- To operate, maintain and improve the Site and the Services;
- To add you to our waitlist and send you updates, early-access invitations and news about Meris Network that you asked for;
- To respond to your questions and requests;
- To protect the Services, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with our legal obligations.
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link included in every message, or by contacting us.
3. Legal bases for processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: your consent (joining the waitlist and receiving updates, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests in running a secure, working website and understanding how it is used; the performance of a contract where you use Services we provide to you; and compliance with legal obligations.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who process it on our behalf (such as hosting, content delivery, email delivery and font providers), under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only to provide their services to us. The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts are requested;
- If required by law, regulation, legal process or a governmental request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Meris Network, our users or others;
- In connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business, in which case we will let you know before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Cookies and local storage
The Site does not set advertising or analytics cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to remember, on your own device, the email you entered, so you are not asked again. You can clear this at any time in your browser settings. If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your email address for as long as you remain on our waitlist or subscribed to our updates. When you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it within 30 days, except where we must keep limited information to honour your request or meet a legal obligation. Technical logs are kept for a short period, typically no longer than 90 days.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and restricted access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International transfers
Our service providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we protect such transfers with appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Residents of California and other US states may also have the right to know what we collect and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; we do not sell or share personal information in that sense. To exercise any of these rights, contact us (section 12). You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, if the changes are significant, let you know by other means, such as email.
12. Contact us
For any question about this policy or your personal information, contact Meris Network at privacy@meris.network or through our account on X, @merisdotnetwork.
